Brunner Supports the Pittsburgh Community through involvement in Annual United Way Event
Continuing agency tradition that began in 2018, employees volunteer at Build-A-Bike


Pittsburgh (June 24, 2019) – Brunner’s core values are attitude, heart and collaboration. And the agency brought that ethos to life through its continued involvement with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s annual Build-a-Bike event.The Brunner team, which consisted of participants from across the organization, leaned into supporting the United Way’s organizational goals this year and joined the larger group on June 19, 2019.

“It’s invaluable for kids to know how to ride a bike. It creates a sense of freedom, in a safe environment, while also encouraging them to be active and exercise,” said Brunner’s VP, Director of Human Resources, Melissa Richards. “Our agency was glad to have the chance to be involved and as a mom of a daughter, it’s nice to see United Way is making sure every kid has an opportunity to ride a bike.”

According to Richards, who spearheaded the company’s involvement, the environment is always positive and uplifting.

“To see so many kids that may not have a bike of their own, broke my heart. But it warmed my heart that we could be one of the hundreds of volunteers that worked side by side with each child while they learned how to build their own bike, learn the safety rules, have their helmets fitted by local area policemen and women, and take their new bikes for a spin around outside. ” added Richards. “We all leave with a really cool sense of purpose. If you can give time – time can be more valuable than money.”

Since Brunner built their first bike during the 2018 event, agency volunteers have continued to build relationships in local neighborhoods through a variety of charitable initiatives.
