Giving the voice back to silenced writers
Challenge
City of Asylum provides sanctuary to exiled literary writers who are persecuted in countries around the world. Forced to find shelter for expressing their point-of-view, they are welcomed by City of Asylum where they can continue to write and publish in a safe and supportive community.
Insights
We created the Book in a Book campaign to raise awareness for the organization’s mission to protect creative freedom of expression. The campaign featured real authors who are no longer silenced and can continue their craft in the U.S.
Strategy
Creating a series of ads, each reflecting one author’s story; we were able to help communicate this very real and widespread threat to writers.
Brunner has worked on many pro-bono projects over the years, which is why we were able to leverage production and media partners who helped us deliver this important message through social and traditional channels.
